This sharpener is great if your knives are already almost sharp because you only have 400 and 1000 grit to work with. I had several knives that were way past the ability of 400 to put an edge on them so I was glad when I saw this had two extra sharpening discs. I was able to cut out some small circular pieces of 150 and 220 and stick them to the spare discs with two face tape. Now I can take those extremely dull knives and, working my way between 150 and 1000, I'm able to remove enough material so the process only takes an afternoon instead of the whole weekend.
Really easy to use and stores safely. I spent about 5 minutes on each side of my Knifes, and went from having problems when cutting potatos to being able to cut tomatoes easily!! I did get black dust on my counter and found out that it stains, but that is easy to work around now that I'm aware of it.
Seems to work ok but I don't think it is as good as the commercial says. However, better than the old way for me.
Love the product, it works. But you have to use a paper towel or something underneath because it leaves black streaks on the surface. It can be removed but you have to put a bit of effort.
